LightEmUp is a space for young people to share ideas, creativity, and stories that matter. We respect the work people make—and we respect the rights of creators everywhere. All content on the LightEmUp website (including text, images, videos, graphics, and original submissions) is protected by copyright law unless stated otherwise. If you believe something on our site uses your copyrighted work without permission, you can ask us to review it under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

For Young People Using LightEmUp

If you’re sharing something on LightEmUp, please make sure:

  • It’s your own work or
  • You have permission to share it
  • You’re not posting private or personal information
  • If anyone shown is under 18, you have permission from a parent or guardian

If something you posted gets removed because of a copyright issue, we’ll do our best to explain what happened and what your options are.

For Parents, Guardians, and Rights Holders

If you believe content on LightEmUp infringes a copyright you own or manage, you may submit a DMCA notice. We take these requests seriously and review them promptly.

How to Submit a DMCA Notice

To help us act quickly, please include:

  • Your name and contact information
  • A description of the copyrighted work you believe was used without permission
  • A link (URL) to where the content appears on LightEmUp
  • A statement that you believe, in good faith, the use is not authorized
  • A statement that the information provided is accurate
  • Your physical or electronic signature

What We Do After a Notice Is Submitted

When we receive a valid DMCA request, we may:

  • Remove or limit access to the content
  • Notify the person who submitted it (when appropriate)
  • Keep a record of the request as required by law

If a mistake was made, the person who posted the content may submit a counter-notification as allowed under the DMCA.
